I feel if we had just matched Phillies offer, Harper would have chosen Yankees
…. wasnt it kinda known that Harper wanted to join Yankees if given a chance? Also I believe he has said he chose 34 because he adored Mickey Mantle.
That does not mean he is going to give Yankees any discount, but on an exact same offer, he might have picked Yankees. Of course, knowing his agent is Boras, Boras might have driven up the price.
I loved that we got Stanton so cheap…. and I think it is foolish of Yankees not to let him play in the field. I think it helps him physically as well and we get better value for his contract. But Harper and his LH would have been a better fit for our lineup as we as the stadium.
Lastly while it would have been great to have both of them, our CF defense would certainly have suffered, but not that it is in a great shape currently!
Buxton is definitely better than Hicks.....
……I am not saying no. But he is as often injured as Hicks. I am not looking to get another person who actually commands much higher money to stay in the DL.
We need to move from Hicks… 100% agreed on this. But Buxton is not the answer, because we are just getting more of the same for more dollars spent.
considering our luck....
…..they both will be injured at the same time and will spend nearly entire season in IR. Till then we will trot out Gardner in CF, because insurance.
Then only Hicks will come back and the only thing he will do is take walks sometimes.
Story of CF in Yankees!!

….maybe the stats page will help.
2018- TJ surgery, 2021 – broken bone due to HBP. The rest of the years…… approaching 150games.

I think there is only one difference....
….I think they move DJL to utility as he was originally intended with Gio being the usual 3rd but occasional swing SS when the actual SS needs a break).
Personally I hope Cashman’s statements on Correa is just a smoke-screen and hopefully his real target is Seager.

this roster crunch is exactly why.....
….I would not want to re-sign Gardner. He has been great for Yankees, but we need the roster spot to protect some future ball players.
Unless Cash trades a bunch for Olson. …. I wont complain in that case.
also Hicks extension was a little bit stupid....
…. he has had a history of getting injured!
Now one can say the same about Judge until this year, but Judge’s injuries has been niggles compared to extended unavailability like Hicks.
I don’t begrudge Severino’s extension, but Hicks contract is approaching Ellsbury contract in terms of stupidity. The only saving grace is that it costs significantly less.

his only offspeed pitch is his curve ball
his Changeup as been a disaster. I really cannot understand this signing by Dodgers……
…….. but I am sure, somehow something will work and he will pitch like Cy Young and we are going to end up bemoaning his departure!
only got 52
… couldn’t spell Woj properly, but totally forgot Amburgey, Jay Bruce, LaMarre, Sal Romano, Koerner and sadly Schmidt
