how the turntables
I hate that Im agreeing whole heartedly with Salty on this one -
Agreed – In the first half Gaspar was open wide a lot on the wings but Baldi never sent the ball his way – it woulda helped both their ratings if Baldi could have at least tried it. Baldi dropping into the back is something we should get away from because technically Ranko or Godoy or Flo could attempt long balls anyways while having a CM more upfield, wherears with him between the CBs theres one less option for a player to pick up the rebounds off the headers of the lifted balls.
Its too bad Bikel got slotted in at RB – I strong feel that Rusty could be useful as an LB (despite him being too short and a total liability on crosses that come his way). Bikel plays at that next echelon, that higher class, or superior level when he is properly in the midfield, but at RB hes not comfortable and loses the ability to play to his strengths. Even if we had Adnan, he woulda been away this week, but its crazy to think that at the start of the year we had the possibility of overloaded at FB and yet here we are having CBs play FB. I remember reporter Har asking if Jake is the backup, but MDS shut it down so fast. At this point, anyone whos a natural FB (other than Godhino apparently) is a shoe in starter for our club apparently
Getting the shout out there is the best thing to happen to me this year! My bday presents that I received were subpar tbh, but a shout out on 86forever is legit! Despite my poor record here, and my often conflict inducing comments, I really love you guys – The writers and the community of commenters – (even old SaltyBurgs)! Everyone has toughed it out with this club at possibly its lowest lows and has stuck around. Big things could be happening in a few years if this team does become decent or good again!
Bikel, Jungwirth, Godoy, Gaspar
Tiebert, Gauld, Baldi,
I think our D is gonna be solid on defending during the run of play with the back 4 I put above, but we could easily lose out on Defensive Set Pieces -(Unless Hasal has really worked on his voice and command during the season) so im gonna give us giving up 2 goals, but Austin I think is really going to be in trouble – I wanted to put 5 but im not sure were gonna get all the way to 5.
Pat was subbed in for Brown but Pat slotted into CM and Bikel went to RB at the end. Great report card otherwise!
This W for MDS, but this game screams draw to me
4-1 emotional W
Silencio Bruno, ranko, jungwirth, goal machine jake
Bikel, jingles, rusty
Dajo, white, caciedo
Rubin gonna score on us, but gauld will get us a hat trick this time if his trend continues. 1 goal, 2 goals, and today 3

Best report card i’ve seen since started following this group(or page – or what are you?) Pretty spot on
I’ve never spoken ill of MDS, but the starting XI was horrendous. He should have trotted out the same as from the weekend prior, or given the start to Jingles over Patty. I understand the value in touting and getting minutes (finally in the case of MDS) to the young Canadians, but unfortunately you have to pick between wins or minutes for the young guns, you cant have both (and for most of MDS’s tenor in the first 2 seasons he had neither) In trying to pick both on Thursday, it was the final straw to break the camels back despite a straw finally stirring the drink in the Salish Sea. The one thing that I think MDS never succeeded at was making players better. Granted, this is the "highest" level of competition for CAN/US – im not sure that its something that is a main priority of a coach at the top level – They only need to get the most of of players to get 3 points (which admittedly is something he also failed at as the stats show)
Its a shame really, because this year they finally got churning after all the obstacles (including FBs who were gonna be the top FBs in MLS, delays on the #10, and finally finally having a home game with fans).
MDS came at the worst time possible, no question in that. He was dealt a hand that he really should have folded on himself rather than try his best to play it out. He did a lot for the club. Having seen games live in 2010 and throughout all the years – he did get them to a point where at least they tried consistently to play (or at least attempt to resemble) proper football. Often times they fell short of the mark in games, but in the Robbo ERA, it was all a sham other than Morales carrying them. All the other years of Robbo was hitting the right counter-attack at the right time. It pains me that so many people view the Robbo era so fondly. Robbo did Rob Rennie out of his job – and Rennie was doing some positive work for us at the time too (he did do well in USL recently right – against our B team?)
As a fan with a bitter taste in my mouth from Thursday night still, I am hoping that MDS goes on to find success – even if its with the Impact down the road – or as a replacement for Herdman one day (you read it here first) – The man deserved better and I hope we can look on him fondly in the future.
Dont get me started on my frustrations with the operations/front office, and ownership group!

Honestly the alarm for the club – in particular Baldi, Pat, and any other young Canadians in the fold for the Caps at the Caps Academy. Clearly as kids they have something that lets them get to be the top choice for the U16, 17, 18, etc but they get lofty on their laurels and dont develop. My assumption is that they become complacent and smug. The players on Pacific are boys who were cut from teams, they had to develop character and mature a lot faster than those who are "Better" than them. They learned to learn and grow in the game. Its hard to say Pat or Baldi have done the same. Im looking at errors against Seattle and other Baldi starts as well as at Pat not moving without the ball last night, poor passes (even on the ‘2nd’ assist, his pass to Dajo was not a crisp pass to say the least, and a poor performance that culminates with him trying to dribble through 4 players at the end of the night when he had lay-off options in the opposition 3rd. We could blame the coaching staff for being inferior and not being adequate in training, especially because MDS always seems to try to win each game as a standalone game without taking into account the entire season, but at some point, your own development is your own responsibility. Davies never learned to cross during his time at the Caps, but either it was himself or the Bayern staff that got him to exponentially improve that part of his game. The PFC players had some good plays and had heart the entire game, they clearly improved from their time as young teens. The Caps will have to find a better way to motivate and improve their academy players, otherwise well just have to eternally buy international players and canadians who went international and are ready to come home to play in Canada.

asking for a friend – whats the time stamps on Amanda Cs predictions??
Gaspar, Jungwirth, Ranko, Jake
Rusty, Baldi, Pat
Raposo, Tos, Dajo
I bet we give up the opening goal and the Wild Pacific fans go nuts on Onesoccer
Lets see if Whitecaps can get out of a knockout round against CPL, but considering how much hate even Whitecaps players get when playing against MLS calibre, its hard to say CPL players who cant make the Caps are worth bringing to any other MLS teams – Id say best case is to let CPL scout and develop for the young teens and MLS teams can snap up promising prospects and place them on the U23 teams for further development, this way MLS teams dont have to focus as much on the younger younger scouting and only scout for 1st team players who can instantly make a difference instead of wait a bit to develop –
Supposedly Bair and DC are/were too good for CPL and went abroad, which makes sense for them in their careers. CPL will need time to get clout as a league before players can really get value for themselves playing in CPL. I think this topic of CPL and its quality of players should be reviewed yearly and I’d like to think that by 2026 (WC in North America) it does have a good international rep and that the translation numbers and underlying data is a lot closer in terms of quality.
