I grew up in S.F and the peninsula but a lifetime A's fan. (Been going to games circa 1978-80 ) Also a 4th generation A's fan, because my great Grandpa,Grandpaa rooted for them in Philadelphia . My Dad moved from Philadelphia and the A's became his AL / Bay Area team. I usually love watching sports and watching a great match up of any kind. However when it comes to being an A's fan, I would still root and go to games if they went 0-162 and still find something positive to say about the team. My favorite A's teams of past are the 1986 team (played horrible and then LaRussa came in and regulated). 1988 Team (The brakelights in the parking lot bother me the most about Gibson's home run) , 1989 Team (Hey they lost 2/3 world series but at least they beat the Midgetes) , 1996 Team (A good hitting team , along with watching the construction of Mount Davis and the construction crew doing YMCA in the 7th Inning Stretch), 1999 Team (Came out of Nowhere), 2001 (Only time I ever felt confident they were going all the way), 2002 Team (Being unemployed and a boring temp job , I was able to listen to most of the 20 game win streak ,with Bill King announcing R.I.P) , 2005 Team (Played some great baseball when they could have thrown away the season) I've seen Game 1 of the 1989 World Series, Game 1&2 2003 ALDS, Scutaro's walk off homerun against the Yanks in 2007. My three favorite A's moments are (not in order) 1.) Scutaro's bases loaded double in game 3 of the 2006 ALDS nothing can ever top that ever for me personally . 2.) b4 1 -23 RRR 7,(3-2) 24% 66% 0-2 OAK F. Thomas J. Contreras Home Run (Line Drive); Kendall Scores; Kotsay Scores 09/17/06 A great at-bat by Frank Thomas 3.) http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BOS/BOS198607070.shtml s fan. 4.) The whole 2012 Season, sometimes in sports you expect the worst then one of the greatest/funnest/wildest rides happens.
