We'd be stepping backwards....
Forget Jace Fry or the QO for Rodon…and if Tampa comes calling for one of our players, hang up the phone because they always win the trade war. I don’t see Chris Taylor making the difference and I’d like to see some money spent to add a starter and a guy to cover off on the 6-7 innings.
What I didn’t state in the thread is that the CWS reduce their payroll to $158M saving $10M. Now trading Kimbrel and Engel is really just cost savings and making room for Vaughn, Sheets, Cespedes and Rutherford’s to emerge and see if they can take over the OF spots. Not to mention the team last year was heavily RH batting, so adding a Sheets to the everyday line up would help. The prospects you get back in the trade are projectable as starters and worst case scenario one of them pans out as a reliever. Adding Villar to me is another switch hitter and a low cost and having an extra $10M at the trade deadline would be helpful for an impact upgrade.
