Anders Lee got 7/49. Kreider’s agent is likely using that as a starting point in negotiations. As he should. Rangers can’t at least meet that, adios.

Ozzy pissed on the Alamo

I know.
I clumsily tried to say he hasn’t even been worth $5 mil.

Either way, it’s damning for Trouba if any of the trade rumors are true. His play all season has been alarmingly poor even for a $5 million-per player

Isles fans (the ones that I know) were crowing last season about losing Tavares — even for nothing. They’re not crowing anymore. The Rangers won’t — they can’t — risk repeating that mistake with Kreider.

The pain of losing Kreider would be quelled with the joy of losing Trouba.

Rangers are liberated after all these defensive battles. They live to trade chances.

Looks like the mob gave Trouba a pair of cement skates. My god is he slow and clumsy!!

And they scored 3 goals against the Devils!

Quinn must be so jelly.
The Panthers are running a 4th line, called the Helicopter Line — a center playing with two defensemen. No wings.

Whew!
I was getting a little concerned there.

Has the Quinn vitriol died down some here? The team isn’t getting caved in on a regular basis anymore, their structure and effort is much more consistent, the power play has been lethal for over two months, and the penalty kill is still meh but not a disaster.

What, no follow-up from Scott Blair on a Kreider-Byfuglien trade? I feel cheated out of some more expert opinion.

It’s unlikely with most owners. But as much as Rangers’ fans want to ignore it, Jim Dolan is the owner. And Jim is obsessed with trust and loyalty — it’s why he kept Isiah around until Stern (RIP) forced him out, and why he kept Mills around despite being hideous at his job.
Wins and losses take a back seat to keeping people Dolan trusts and likes in place. It’s why I highly suspect that Sather maintains a strong presence with the Rangers. Dolan NEEDS him.

Prestige and money.

Good question. His dream job. It’s still his team to run … with a caveat that he’s willing to accept.
But whatever. The team’s in good hands. As much as we all shit on the coaching, this is a flawed roster that is playing close to its level.
Let’s see how they look with the D upgrades.

As a long-time Knicks fan, it’s a very strong hunch that Dolan maintains a powerful conduit to the Rangers’ power base with Sather. It’s how he works. He has absolute trust in Sather. JD still runs the show, but I believe he has to clear big decisions with Glen.

Sather’s still a voice. It’s not Knicks meddling, but it’s meddling.

I hear Steve Cohen has turned his focus into buying the Rangers. Early reports are that Dolan’s only demand is to have Steve Mills run the scouting department.

Yup.
This will be the biggest test of this staff going forward.

The youngest team in the league feels like a crutch. The top players are vets — they should already have a better method of attack against this style.

This is still a very easy team to defend when opponents commit to it — now it’s on the coaches to figure something out.

Brutal!
But at this point, it’s probably where he belongs. He’s just not ready for top or even 2nd line duty. Soon though.
