I’m in 100% agreement with Purdy and Hall. Purdy’s lack of arm strength made it impossible to get the ball far enough downfield when his feet were not set because the pocket was pressing from his right. He’s a nice player, but doesn’t have the release and zip that NFL guys have.
Hall is a great player, but I’m assuming he is a little banged up and nursing something. That said, Iowa did a great job of closing any initial rush lanes and forcing ISU to attempt to use Purdy to beat them.

I keep reading from a lot of people about maybe they didn’t want to show anything with Johnson, but I just don’t see the staff doing that. They have never done that in the past and didn’t do it with someone like Connor Colby against Indiana. They must have him at #5 at this point.

The play action numbers are worrisome because this is a trend that appeared last year as well. The Indiana game a few of those were victim of shot plays being called and then Indiana didn’t bring the blitz. The 2-3 routes were covered and Petras was forced to throw it away. That said, the waggle plays seem to only go for about 5 yards as a max lately. I miss the days of McNutt crossing the entire field on that action and being hit for 15+.

Agree on a lot of points. Indiana’s OL is really poor so I’m interested to see how the DL looks going forward. On several of the time Petras escaped the pocket it was just a 2-3 man route against 5-7 defenders so it wasn’t a good situation for a scramble drill.
Well, at least they are not Bishop Sycamore.
