I'm willing to bench him
I see the big leg. He can rip a shot. But he seems slow this year. Defensive players give him fits. I want him to figure it out and improve, but clearly, he declined in play in the eyes of the Slovakian team.
I would have rather seen Woods in the starting 11 over Rusnak. I would like to see the team get MUCH better at offensive chemistry. Too many times a set to the middle is completely wasted.
Rusnak should get minutes. But not necessarily be a lock to start.
Menendez has to be in there. He is still working out his chemistry with the other players, but he is incredibly difficult to defend. Rubio, Julio. Wood … those guys need to be in there with Menendez and figure out the best grouping. Kreilach should get some more time going forward,
The offense should run primarily thru Herrera, Menendez, and Justin Meram. Those 3 can dribble to set up a good pass. Bobby Wood, Damir Kreilach, Anderson Julio, Rubio Rabin … those guys need to be tested for who can be in synch with the sets.
Rusnal needs to be the blanket behind that front. And he hasn’t been.
The lack of chemistry in passing is on the coaches. The team is still figuring out the flow, and it is far too late in the season for that.
Woods over Rusnak
I would be interested in seeing Woods instead of Rusnak in that lineup.

Goals are deceiving
What I see is that opposing teams are in control on the RSL end of the field. They hold possession, and RSL seems out of control, with the only touches being desperation clears that are promptly re-controlled by the other team. The shots have not gone in. But the offensive control is there by the other team and in general, the lack of goal scoring looks like luck, not good defense.
We also held them scoreless when we sub’ed in more offensive players. That was not because the defense got better.
A good defense would clamp down and take the ball away when the opposing team advances. RSL rarely does that.
I might be completely wrong. There have been many games where I think RSL has played very poorly, and the other team controlled the game. But they are still 7-6-6.
