I wrote last week about how much I love the future of this Georgetown team and I think what we’re seeing is simply the inconsistency that comes with playing a lot of young guys in major roles. They’ve flashed the ability to compete with some of the country’s better teams but, because they’re so young, don’t maintain that level of play and can get sloppy at times.
James Akinjo and Mac McClung are both future stars and Patrick Ewing is a much better coach that he may get credit for. This season is all about building for next year for the Hoyas.

Baby Mutumbo's tip dunk ignites the crowd. Old Mutumbo begs them to keep it going ☝

Georgetown's poor shooting leads to its worst defense
Defense was decent when GU was hitting shots and getting back.
How many times was there a long defensive rebound for Syracuse and a de facto breakaway because one blue shirt was back?
It’s a game a swings and momentum, and Ewing does not always remember that pace is a fickle mistress
"I’m not really sure yet, but I probably want to get down to Georgetown for an official soon," he said. "Other than that I still have a little bit of time."
Johnson is intrigued with the history Georgetown has and the amount he can learn from head coach Patrick Ewing.
"Just the history they have, being able to learn from one of the greats in Patrick Ewing would be huge because he has experience in the NBA," Johnson said. "They have a lot of knowledge and I’ll be able to pick their brains."
I think Malinowski plays most of his minutes at 3
Not averse to making Mac a 6th man to gain an advantage, but worried that having Pickett and Malinowski helping bring the ball up for 25+ minutes per game could be tough

I really don’t want to disparage Blair and Mosely, but "stabilizing forces" they are not. They, too, try to do too much.
Mosely didn’t score a point in the game. Not even a field goal attempt. 4 assists and 4 turnovers. Blair? 1 for 8 from 3pt (let’s say 1 for 7 and take away his shot at the buzzer). They were put in for defense and maybe some 3pt upside, but no one should have trusted them over Mac and Akinjo after about a 3 minute stretch…and Ewing sending them to the scorers’ table (late) demonstrated that he realized his mistake.
Put another way, even if there were stabilizing and keeping GU really close, I don’t want to watch a team that leaves exciting guards on the bench when the game is on the line.

Georgetown: "It is really close, which is one advantage. Coach (Patrick) Ewing has said he is going to get me right and with him being a big man, too, and I am going to get the ball. He talks about Jessie Govan a lot and how I am going to be able to do the same stuff as him."

I disagree with the length of the benching
this is not the case of a baseball pitcher where he cannot come back in—Akinjo needed some rest, coaching, and to watch a little. a 4 minute breather, not 8 minutes. Mac needed a towel and some direction.
Boeheim challenges his star guard to step up ("we won’t win if you don’t play better") and Ewing benched his two for the last 8 minutes?
And Patrick sending them to the scorer’s table supports my conclusion that he realized it a minute too late—otherwise, Mosely and Blair need to start under the "I trust my older guys" logic.

I think he's right. we're approaching the time to sever the rivalry...
Maybe do another 4-season deal to coincide with Boeheim’s expected retirement, but "tradition" + bragging rights just don’t measure up to moving up on the conference standings.
Still, I guess there’s money to be made here… maybe if Gerry McNamara is head coach?
We got some time with @GeorgetownHoops before they head up to Syracuse for Saturday’s game. Patrick Ewing is in favor of renewing the four-year deal that’s up this year, and also hopes no oranges hit the backboard in his first time at the dome as a coach. #hoyas

Georgeton's 4-year series with Syracuse ends this year. Patrick Ewing says he "definitely" wants to renew. Less committal about adding similar games. pic.twitter.com/sEmhTJDV3o

"I’ve reached out to Coach Boeheim and told him we’d like to continue it,‘’ Ewing said. "We will see. I think it’s something that’s great for both schools. It’s great for us to keep the old rivalry burning and it’s great for them to see an old foe as well.’’

But there’s some video of SU winning at the Dome …
but don't you hate that they share your love of the Boss?

Thus far, Baugh has taken official visits to Georgetown and TCU. What stuck out about those visits?
"It was great," he said about Georgetown. "Josh [Leblanc] and Grayson [Carter] were my hosts so it was great going up there and meeting Patrick Ewing and him telling me how I can get to the NBA which is one of my main goals."
