NFC standings: Seahawks, 49ers battle out West

New, comments

The playoff race is intensifying in the NFC, but the North and East divisions are still a mess. Here are the updated standings after Week 15.

There are only two weeks left in the regular season, and plenty of playoff spots are still up for grabs. The Seattle Seahakws stayed in control of the No. 1 seed with a shutout win over t New York Giants on the road. The San Francisco 49ers are still nipping at their heels, staying two games behind, but they're looking out for the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals have a road date in Seattle, hoping to crash the wild card party.

The NFC North has become a complete mess. The Detroit Lions dropped a home game to the Baltimore Ravens and lost first place. The Chicago Bears are now on top of the division, but the Green Bay Packers are still lingering, and could be dangerous if Aaron Rodgers is able to return.

The NFC East is still a quagmire, with the Cowboys and Eagles both losing winnable games. The Panthers remain in the No. 5 spot and has another crack at the NFC South with a critical home game against the New Orleans Saints next week.

1. Seattle Seahawks (12-2)*
2. New Orleans Saints (10-4)
3. Philadelphia Eagles (8-6)
4. Chicago Bears (8-6)
5. Carolina Panthers (10-4)
6. San Francisco 49ers (10-4)

In the hunt: Arizona Cardinals (9-5), Green Bay Packers (7-6-1), Detroit Lions (7-7)
